Introduction to the Swinging Volley

Explanation:

A swinging volley is an aggressive, advanced, shot executed on either the forehand or the backhand side.  The swinging volley is hit before the ball touches the ground (like a volley).  The swing resembles that of a forehand or backhand groundstroke.  Usually, the contact point on a swinging volley is much higher than a regular groundstroke.

Tips and suggestions:

1.  Do not use a big backswing
to hit a swinging volley

2.  is hitting a regular volley a better choice?

3.  Know the situation.  Volleys are a smarter shot, but if you are confident and can win the point...go for it!

4.  Make sure you are using your forehand or backhand grip.  The continental volley grip is not sufficient for this shot!
